Bourbon County Brand 2-Year Barleywine Reserve (2022) by Goose Island Beer Co.

Anthony D is drinking a Bourbon County Brand 2-Year Barleywine Reserve (2022) by Goose Island Beer Co. at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery

(Surprisingly) boozier than I remember it from a year ago, but not necessarily to its detriment. This is a BIG beer, in both barrel presence and flavor profile; it’s delicious and should stand the test of time. Doing well a little over one year on.

Flambé by Shared

Have a feeling this was better fresh. Something off with this bottle, hard to pinpoint what. Banana seems very…artificial? Slightly plastic? Almost rotten?? Strange, obviously time has not done this any favors.

BA Bananaversary (2024) by Other Half Brewing Co.

Anthony D is drinking a BA Bananaversary (2024) by Other Half Brewing Co. at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery

Generally a bit sweeter than I prefer but the flavors are all there. Custardy banana, cinnamon/graham spiciness (from the barrel, maybe??), light bourbon/oak, dense cocoa, coconut is faint but in the background. Great dessert beer.

Gueuzérable Tilquin (2017-2018) by Gueuzerie Tilquin

Anthony D is drinking a Gueuzérable Tilquin (2017-2018) by Gueuzerie Tilquin at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery

I get absolutely nothing indicating maple syrup in the aroma or palate. But it’s just an extremely solid geuzue. Tilquins can tend to get acidic or too vinegary with age but this is still nice and mellow, tart but not overpowering. Oaky, mildly funky.

Tête de Cuvée (Vintage 2022) by Side Project Brewing

Anthony D is drinking a Tête de Cuvée (Vintage 2022) by Side Project Brewing at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery

Stone fruit and mineral water, slightly musty wood and hay, lemon rind, notable SP funkiness almost with that faint sulfur aroma (but not off putting). Beautiful beer. Not sure if it will get better with age, though. Most likely not.

No idea what batch this is but it’s fuggin great. Apparently I’ve only had this once before?? (Fake news.) But yeah this is a fruity banger.

10 Year Barleywine by Side Project Brewing

Anthony D is drinking a 10 Year Barleywine by Side Project Brewing at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery

😳 Of the recent big hitter barley wines, this is near the top of the order. I think DB VSOJ is actually a little more…complex? Or has a wider breadth of flavors across the full palate. But this is up there.

Anniversary Blend (2023) by Perennial Artisan Ales

Anthony D is drinking an Anniversary Blend (2023) by Perennial Artisan Ales at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery

A tad on the sweet side, could use a stronger oak/barrel presence for balance, but I REALLY like the flavor profile that’s going on here. Cocoa-dusted raisins, prunes, leather, licorice, some caramel and black cherry (?).

Reminds me of the New England IPAs that were coming out of the East coast ca. 2012. Could use more hoppy bitterness though.

Season 21|22, no. 103. I love this, light berry skins, and I get a huge floral note, very unique, almost like eucalyptus? Mint? It’s fantastic. Lots of oak and vanillin too.

It’s fine. Too sweet, though. Not as much barrel as you’d expect.

Like a boozier, oakier, fudgier BA Abraxas. Thicker, too. Tad unbalanced maybe, but the sweetness is in check, and honestly I enjoy the heavier chile/cinnamon spice.
