Since we're celebrating International Stout Day on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, let's honor the stout in all its glorious forms. 

A Quick History of International Stout Day 

Founded by Erin Peters, known as The Beer Goddess, in Southern California in 2011, International Stout Day has grown into a worldwide phenomenon.

An award-winning journalist who covered the travel and the beer scene on her website, thebeergoddess.com, and through publications such as Good Sam and RV Magazine, Peters passed away from ovarian cancer earlier this year.

Her legacy will live on on International Stout Day. So this year especially, let's raise a glass and toast to the very person who started this iconic holiday celebrating one of our favorite styles in all its glorious forms: the stout.

In 2010, Untappd Founder Greg Avola had an idea: build a social platform for the craft beer community.

Pumpkin beers—trick or treat? Yes, this style is polarizing, but love 'em or hate 'em pumpkin beers are an iconic part of the fall season.

We're all for giving the gourd some love this October! 

After all, pumpkin beers didn't initially start as a gimmick. During the seventeenth century, common ingredients used in beer today, such as wheat and barley, weren't as easily accessible as those smiling jack-o' lanterns. 

But people had a healthy supply of those gorgeous gourds with their pulpy interiors full of fermentable sugars.

Today, you'll find a pumpkin patch of pumpkin/yam beers on the shelf—some imperial, some barrel-aged, some made with pie spices, and others with real pumpkins.

The Warsaw Beer Festival was first held in 2014, the first event of its kind in Poland. It continues to bring together modern Polish craft beer tastes and the hottest trends. They are eager to challenge bland traditions and create striking, modern beer. And the Warsaw Beer Festival is the place to experience the best of the best.

For the first time the WBF will be collaborating with Untappd thereby enabling visitors to vote for their favourite beers and keep track of the festival's best-selling beers. "Partly, we actually want to analyse drinking habits," says Paweł Leszczyński, the festival's founder and mastermind. "We want to see if drinkers are more likely to enjoy a beer at home, or in the pub or at a festival – we want to learn if a location impacts enjoyment." And yes, every vote counts – once the festival closes, souvenir packs containing the top-ranked beers will be made available for sale!
