Donny Costello: Who is this? Sounds like maybe they want to do something different along the lines of everything. Are you back in NY?

Jon A is drinking a Gertrude’s Brew by Kills Boro Brewing Company
Solid, lemony, fresh & well-brewed kellerbier-like lager with a touch of that nice middle-EU yeasty/sulfur thing; quality-but-mid saturated hops that could use another throw…& although maybe not intended, a nice mashup of new and old-school school vibes.

Jon A is drinking a Corona Familiar by Grupo Modelo
So good & clean; the best macro yet I think…I’ll put it over PBR bc it’s more legit malty & less sweet. And/or maybe it’s just the big ass bottle that’s bb 11/24. But in any event I’m happy to pour some out too for my cholos locos out in LA on 55💀 🇲🇽
Purchased at El Tepeyac Taqueria
Jon A: Corona Extra is such a joke compared to its OG big bro… 🤷♂️
Michael O.: Is this the original recipe hence the Familiar Title?
Jim B: Agree 200% re: “X” vs Familiar vs any other from across the southern macro region
Jesse Castillo: ✊️ I agree ! My favorite Corona
Jon A is drinking a Darkness Doubled by Sante Adairius Rustic Ales
First up, this is goddamn fucking outrageous for so many reasons. No way this is 17.1%. The big fresh oak is almost overpowering, which is exactly what you want in a stout but never actually get 98/100 times. OK so they cheated with honey, but it adds*
Jon A: RockNRollSommelier or better, Capitola ;)
Adam Vancil: Jon A Capitola is further south if you're coming from that direction, southern CA. However, only 10 minutes further north in Santa Cruz, their tap room carries guest beers. They will usually have some Private Press or others on tap, too.
RockNRollSommelier: I didn’t realize they had two different spots in SC county. But their place in Oakland is really nice and worth checking out if you’re in the area. That said, I also still miss the Trappist place that was there before Sara.
Adam Vancil: RockNRollSommelier Oakland Arbor is the 1 I usually go to. I'm in the East Bay. However Brad from Private Press & Adair from Sante Adairius just bought Santa Cruz Mountain brewing in Scott's Valley off 17. I believe it will be used by both breweries.
RockNRollSommelier: Adam V. Far out. Had to look it up, but that’s right next to humble sea, eh? Just had an amazing wcipa from the Sea. Now you’re making me wistful, I’m way overdue for a visit to those parts.
Adam Vancil: RockNRollSommelier definitely the same general neck of the woods.
Jon A is drinking a Poet's Walk (2020-2023) by Suarez Family Brewery
Exceptionally rich & layered w darkness, conveying black Scandinavian licorice, prune, asphalt, clove & allspice, black pepper, charred rye crust. Musty hops reveal on the finish. Serious af, viscous tannic & dry, forcing you to reach for another sip. 🌟
Jon A: As it warms, offers a little slice of tobacco-caramel sweetness… and just for the record, while "English barleywine" sounds all fancy it's basically the same as german doppelbock...🤷♂️
Stolz! A surprisingly refined Teutonically & legitly-aspirated N. German-style pilsy lager. This might hopefully mark KB’s aspirations to be human robot north? Crush it, savior it, it’s all good. 4.2 🌾
